How this log is built

Each article on this site that is filed from a specific visit carries a visited field in its frontmatter — the month and year the editor was on site. This page reads every published piece, filters to those with a visited field, and groups the results by month. The log is regenerated on every build; entries appear here as soon as a visit-based piece is published.

The desk does not publish the visit date in this log to a higher resolution than the month, for two reasons: principals at properties recognise their guests, and the desk does not want a property's PR team to be able to reverse-engineer which guest filed which piece. The article itself, in the prose, names the season or week of the visit when relevant.

Articles without a visited field appear in the regular department pages but not here. These are pieces filed without a property visit — industry briefs, fleet states, market reports, the year-ahead pieces, and the longform planning guides for trips the desk has researched but not personally taken end-to-end.
